A MARKET town’s [pounds]2.4m business centre has welcomed its first tenant.

Phlebotomy Training Services has moved on to Evolution Business Park, in Darlington Road, Northallerton.

The complex will eventually house up to 30 businesses.

Company director Alison Purkiss, who set up Phlebotomy three years ago, said she moved to Evolution because of the facilities on offer.

Phlebotomy is described as the act of opening a vein by incision or puncture to remove blood as a therapeutic treatment. Ms Purkiss said her business offers training and has had more than 1,300 clients in the past two years.

“We have only been here a few weeks, but it is already proved to be the rightmove for us, ” she said.

“The building is great, the management services are good and security – which is vital to our work – excellent.

“My business is going from strength to strength and it is an exciting time for us.

“We now have 15 members of staff, and we are taking on an apprentice in the new year.

“Moving to Evolution has enabled us to continue with our growth and take the business to the next level.

“We are looking forward to a long and prosperous relationship with the business centre.”

Evolution is run on the same lines as the successful Springboard Business Centre, in Stokesley, where administrative services and meeting rooms are provided along with business support.

Lyn Fielding, the centre’s administrator, said: “Evolution provides supported units for new businesses as well as acting as a hub for business services and business support to the surrounding area.

“We will be able to help nurture new businesses and hopefully see them grow into bigger premises in the town.”

The building’s eco-credentials include solar panels, spaces for cycles and containers to collect and reuse water.

Evolution has been funded with cash from Yorkshire Forward, the European Regional Development Fund and Hambleton District Council.
